Using occupations at the heart of our practice

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy can help you manage your life and mental wellness in a variety of ways. ‘Occupation’ refers to the things you do day to day. This might be self care activities, work/education or things that you enjoy.
Occupational Therapy works with you to build skills to enable you to complete the activities of daily living that you need or want to do. It also helps you to adapt the activity or environment that you do it in.
Ayres Sensory Integration
Sensory integration, or sensory processing, is an automatic neurological process that occurs throughout our life. Sensory integration develops naturally during ordinary childhood activities, however, for some people, it does not develop as efficiently as it could and can affect activities of daily living, academic achievement, behaviour or social participation.
Sensory Attachment Intervention
Sensory Attachment Intervention is a treatment approach for children and adults who have suffered early life trauma. It was developed by Occupational Therapist Eadaoin Bhreathnach and aims to “enable parents and children to learn the art of self-regulation through the use of sensory and engagement strategies”. (Bhreathnach 2013).
Video Interaction Guidance
Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) is a strengths-based, brief intervention that promotes attunement, sensitivity, and mentalization in relationships. The principles and practice can be used to work within any relationship.
